For staff caring for people with PEGsCourse Aims
To be able to care for those with PEGsLearning Outcomes
- Understand what a PEG is, and the indications for its use
- Know the anatomy and physiology of a PEG
- Understand the mechanics of swallowing
- Be aware of conditions that can affect swallowing
- Know how to care for and clean stoma sites
- Be aware of the common complications of PEGs
- Recognise the signs of urgent complications, and what to do when indicated
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of professionals regarding PEGs
