By the end of these courses you will:

• Have an understanding of mandatory courses such as Equality & Diversity, Fire Safety, Health and Safety
• Be able to recognise and treat anaphylaxis
• Have an understanding of Basic Life Support to allow a person to act to save a life
• Recognise the signs that young people may be a victim of Grooming or Child Sexual Exploitation
• Be able to communicate with residents and colleagues ensuring that information is communicated effectively
• Have awareness of coronavirus, its symptoms and provide guidance on minimising its spread
• Have an awareness of COSHH regulations
• Be able to identify the symptoms of diabetes that could suggest a problem and provide appropriate care
• Understand the role of the IDDSI framework and implement it
• Understand the changes GDPR brings, and how to be compliant with the regulations
• Protect the data of anyone you come into contact with and ensure that patient data is only shared in accordance with the Caldicott Principles
• Know how to safely carry out manual handling tasks putting safety first for you and others
• Refresh awareness of types of medication, how they are controlled and used
• Develop an understanding of the types of Mental Illnesses that may affect Residents and how best to support them
• Refresh awareness of how to manoeuvre people safely using equipment where appropriate
• Be able to support residents with their nutrition and hydration
• Be able to provide effective oral care for your residents.
• Safely put on and remove PPE
• Keep children safe from abuse, be able to identify any abuses taking place and know the appropriate action to take

• Understand the differences between positive and negative stress, how to deal with stress in the workplace and to be aware of how stress affects you and those around you
